Dr. Jim Morse

Originally from Jackson, MS, Dr. Jim Morse spent his formative years in Philadelphia, PA, and Sacramento, CA, before settling in Germantown, TN, where he graduated from Evangelical Christian School in 1990. He then pursued a degree in Biology from Mississippi State University, followed by a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Morse's veterinary career began in 2001 at Germantown Parkway Animal Hospital. In 2006, he joined Shelby Center Hospital for Animals as an Associate Veterinarian. His focus is on small animal medicine, with particular interests in medical workups, ophthalmology, dermatology, and general surgery.

Reflecting on his career, Dr. Morse shared, “My favorite thing about being a vet is the unique relationship between the client, pet, and me (our team). Doing this for 20+ years I’ve really developed a close bond with so many people and their furry kids. I think of being a vet as being a medical detective. Our patients can’t speak or point or write something down. We have to listen, look, smell, feel, be curious and determined. My least favorite thing about being a vet is knowing something is wrong and not being able to figure it out.

Outside of work, Dr. Morse enjoys cooking, reading, playing piano, golfing, fishing, and spending time with his wife of 29 years. They have 3 sons, a border collie named Skye, and 2 grand pets: a border collie puppy named Eilidh and a leopard gecko. He hopes one or two of his sons might follow in his veterinary footsteps.
