Dr. Suzanne Whistler

Originally from Middle Tennessee, Dr. Suzanne Whistler participated in a 3-1 program at the University of Tennessee, allowing her to apply for Veterinary School after 3 years. She graduated with a degree in Animal Science and her first year of Veterinary school completed. Continuing at the University of Tennessee, she earned her doctorate in Veterinary medicine in 1992.

Dr. Whistler's career began at Parkway Village Animals Hospital, followed by Family Veterinary Practice. After having children, she started relief work until joining Shelby Center Hospital for Animals as an Associate Veterinarian in 2005. Her focus is on small animal medicine, with a special interest in Preventative Care, Internal medicine, and dermatology.

When asked what she loves about being a veterinarian, she said “I enjoy celebrating the human animal bond and developing relationships with my clients.”  

In her free time, she enjoys reading, exercising, traveling, and hiking with her husband (Best Friend) Steve. Married for 30 years, they have 2 adult children and 2 Old Time Scotch Collies, Ruthie and Teddy.
